Lazy Sunday

Don't you just love lazy Sundays? The ones where you read the "newspaper" in the morning (this is what Briana was calling her workbook today).

Then go to see a movie (and actually make it through the entire thing - yeehaw!). We saw "Up" in 3D and it was terrific.

Then head home and take a nap with Daddy and kitty...

Sounds like a perfect day to me.

Conversations With Briana

Ya'll remember when I was worried about Briana speech? Well, I'm not anymore. Once she started getting the hang of the talking thing, she got it really quickly. What is so cool is that we can have actual conversations now...

When Briana and I are in the car, she is a backseat driver. She often says, "Mommy slow down, you are going to fast." Now I hope she remembers this advice when she turns 16 and starts driving on her own. She also directs me where to go by pointing and saying, "Shish way mama."

Doug told Briana that my birthday was coming up soon - in a few weeks. Bri is still not getting the whole time/date thing yet. She looked at the pretend watch on her arm and said, "Ten minutes?" Now she is all about me having a birthday party. She askes me every day - at least 3 or 4 times a day, "Can I come to your birfday party?" and "I wanna come to your party, can I come?" I'm not having a party, but I think me opening some gifts and blowing candles out on a cake is party enough for Bri. She has told me she is going to get me two yellow balloons, a birfday cake, flowers and a card.

On Wednesday afternoon, I told Briana that I wasn't feeling very well. She said, "I make you feel better mama." She made me sit in a folding chair in my office. Then she said, "I get you comfy pillow." She put a huge pillow from my bed behind my head. Then she said, "I get you comfy blanket." She ran and got a blanket. Then she pulled out another pillow for my legs. Then she said as she pointed up her finger to me, "I get you juice - I be right back." She brought me a drum as my juice cup. "Now I get you bandage." She brought me a train track as my "bandage". Then she gave me a few stuffed animals too so I would feel better.

Doug came home and found me like this...

I still didn't feel all that well physically after this, but Miss Bri certainly made my heart swell and put a smile on my face. The best part was the kiss I got at the end after she said, "I kiss you - you feel better."

That's my girl...

Quilt Square Update!

Well, it has been two months since I started collecting squares for Briana's 100 Good Wishes Quilt, and I am really happy with how many I have collected so far! I went from having just 3 to 17! I cannot believe how pretty the fabrics are and the wishes - they are so amazing. Thank you to everyone that has contributed to the quilt. If you are interested in sending a piece of fabric and a wish to Miss B, please let me know. I also would love to contribute a square to anyone that is putting a quilt together!

Here are the fabrics so far...

These are my contributions.

This is from my dear friend Amy B. and her family.

I received two pieces of fabric from my childhood friend Debra and her family.

This is from my SIL Ann and BIL Wes - this purple fabric is so fun!

This one came all the way from Spain from Carmen and her family!

This is from Alyson, Ford and Alyzabeth An!

This was the first piece of fabric I ever received from my friend Kathy (Chani's Mama) years ago!

This fabric is from Doug's cousin Cheryl and her husband John - they live in Alaska and these are the typical wildflowers that grow there.

I was over the moon when I received THREE pieces from the Tonggu family - Tonggu Momma, Tonggu Daddy and the Tongginator herself.

This lovely fabric is from Michelle and her hubby.

I love this red fabric from Sindy and her family.

My friend Suzanne and her family sent this sweet fabric.

And last but not least, this fabric came from Doug's Aunt Jene', Uncle Gary and cousin Kimberly.

I am in love with every fabric I have received so far! I can't wait to get more!!!!

Three Peas In A Pod

Three peas on a pod - literally! Bri and I headed over to Randi's house last week to visit with Jack and Emma and Kathy and Chani. Randi has this awesome swing in her house and the girls had a ball swinging in it! It was a great play date with lots of toys, laughs and pizza. And I must say Jack was very sweet to help keep the three young ones entertained!

It is so nice to see the girls together. Randi, Kathy and I waited a long time for it to happen - and now that it has, it feels so good!

First Time Riding A Bike By Herself

Briana has been on this bike a number of times before. She has sat on it and pushed it with her feet on the ground. She also tried to pedal when Doug or I were pushing her, but she never grasped the concept of pedaling on her own until last Tuesday (5/19). I was so excited! Here are some videos of her riding her bike by herself for the very first time.
