Savannah - Day 2

Day 2 in Savannah was wonderful. We started the day off by waking up a bit late and heading down to the pool around 10:30. Bri went straight to the sprinkler palm trees first...

My view from the pool facing River Street...

The weather that morning was a bit overcast with a slight breeze. Nothing like the intense heat we had been experiencing in Atlanta. It was a perfect day to swim.

Bri mastered the art of floating. She could stay like that for a pretty long time without assistance...

Lunch and daiquiri break...

After hanging out at the pool for around 3 hours, we went to the room, showered and changed and went down to the lobby bar to relax and play on iPads for a while...

We decided to board the River Street ferry again to head to dinner that evening...

Riding the ferry...

Miss B was getting a bit tired after all that swimming...

Pretty view...

The waving girl statue...

As we were sitting at one of the ferry stops, two barges needed to pass one another...

It is truly amazing how enormous these boats are. Stories high...

Once on land, we ate at the Shrimp Factory. Here is my Caesar salad...

Bri begged to go back to the candy store to purchase some taffy this time. We had not the night before. B had also sadly dropped her lollipop on the ground the night before and asked for another one. It was vacation so we obliged.

Look at all that taffy...

And all those chocolate/nut clusters...

We waited for the ferry to take us back once again and I got a few photo opportunities...

Me and my best gal...

That evening, there was no thunderstorm - just pretty lights to look at...

And the close to full moon was out...

Day 3 is next!!!

Savannah - Day 1

We strolled into Savannah around 3PM on Sunday and got settled in our hotel room...

We had this amazing view of the pool and also of River Street across the Savannah River...

When it approached dinner time, we decided to take the free ferry across the water to River Street. We waited for the boat for a few minutes...

Then the boat arrived...

River Street!!!!

We ate at a little Louisiana restaurant called "Huey's" and it was delicious. But, the best part of the meal - the fresh beignets...

Of course, all Bri wanted to hit was the candy store...

We made it!!!!

Hugs from Daddy...

Briana was fascinated watching the taffy making. She was fixated on everything the taffy maker was doing...

Delicious pralines...

Handmade chocolate lollipops...

Somehow Briana convinced me to get her a huge lollipop...

As we waited for the ferry to take us back to the hotel, we watched a man play the trumpet. He also passed about balloons to little kids...

You can see the sun was starting to set and it was getting a bit cloudy. Definitely time to head back...

And thank goodness we headed back when we did. An hour later, a huge thunderstorm came through. I managed to snap one of the lightning bolts. Yikes!!!

I will blog about Day 2 next. Swim time and more River Street!!!

A Wonderful Time In Savannah

There is so much to blog about regarding Savannah - I don't know where to start! I will do this quick sum up and then devote a few more detailed posts afterward.

We loved walking on River Street - watching the boats and visiting candy shops...

We swam a lot! And enjoyed lunch and strawberry daiquiris poolside (Briana's is kid-friendly of course!)...

Someone mastered the art of floating...

Miss B and I enjoyed a spa afternoon and got mani/pedis...

We took a private dolphin tour on the morning of the 4th. Bri loved seeing the dolphins, but probably loved going fast in the boat more...

Doug spotted two dolphins in the distance and they came swimming over to the boat. They played around us for ten minutes...

Then we saw the most spectacular fireworks display. They were so close. Literally going off above our heads...

This trip was pretty much a last minute decision. Doug saw a good deal at the Westin Hotel on Hutchinson Island and said "Wanna go to Savannah on the 4th?" Bri and I were in! And it was a very fun, restful and enjoyable vacation all around!
