Fall Break - A Day Of Apple Picking

The Wednesday during fall break was a picture perfect day to go apple picking! The sun was shining and the temps were so comfortable. We arrived at the apple orchard around 10:45AM...

The Apple House is a little general store that sells all things apple...

Behind the little store, there are rows and rows of apples awaiting to be picked...

Since it was a weekday, it was pretty quiet. There was a field trip of preschoolers picking apples, another field trip of senior citizens walking around and a few others like us walking around.

There are no bells and whistles available on the weekdays - only on weekends. No pony rides, no petting zoo, no hay rides. But that is ok. We have our annual family farm outing with friends planned for this weekend. Just picking apples was perfect for this day...

Briana definitely needed a daddy lift to get to the higher branches...

A tight squeeze from mommy...

A little hand holding...

Briana kept laughing because when she would go to pick an apple, sometimes other ones would fall on Doug's head. Of course, she thought that was hilarious...

We couldn't get into the petting zoo, but we could still see all the animals from afar...

Picking a few more...

Once we picked all our apples, Briana hit the free cider station...

And slurped down a frozen cider slushy...

My two favorite peeps...

About five minutes away from the apple orchard is the local town...

Briana found a sock monkey to take home...

We stopped in a quaint Christmas shop...

While Doug paid for a few items, Briana and I sat on the rocking chair front porch of the store and just chatted...

It was so beautiful there - I could have stayed all day.

We grabbed a quick lunch and then hit one last apple barn for some more cider and hot boiled peanuts...

We came home with Golden Delicious, Mutsu and Black Arkansas apples...

It was one of those perfect days. One I could relive over and over again and be completely happy.

And it is funny, with all the picking we have done (blueberry and strawberry), we had never gone apple picking before. Another item crossed off the bucket list!

Fall Break - Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues

Finally! A post about fall break!

Above, Briana is sitting in my Nana's rocking chair (my great grandmother) at my parents' house.

We went over to my parents' house for a belated Rosh Hashanah dinner on the Saturday night leading into fall break. Briana had lots of fun playing with Cousin N1 (and now that I have two nephews with N names - I need to refer to them now at N1 and N2!)...

Of course Gramma always has some sort of present for Miss B...

Here is Papa reading his cards...

And cutting the challah bread...

Briana wearing a yalmulke (girls don't usually wear them - especially directly on the top of their heads - but she likes to and she is super cute)...

Hiding with Cousin N1 under Gramma's dining room table...

Briana had already had a full Saturday before the dinner because she had a soccer game and Chinese dance class. The moms got a little sneak peek that day of what the girls are learning now...

Sunday morning/afternoon, Doug abandoned Bri and I went to the Tour Championship at the East Lake Golf Club with his friend Jimmie. It was a beautiful day as you can see in the pictures he e-mailed me...

Bri and I just had a quiet day at home that day because we had to gear up for a full blown shopping day on Monday with Gramma!

Hugs all around...

Briana brought some of her money (earned from the tooth fairy, chores, etc) to buy an item at the mall. This is who she picked to bring home...

Of course we did lots of clothes and shoe shopping...

And a little frozen yogurt making was necessary as well...

It was a great day and Briana came home with some cool new boots and a few cute outfits for fall.

Tuesday, Briana had a play date with her friend Emily from school. The girls ran around the playground for over two hours!!

That afternoon, I promised to make a tower out of tinker toys with Briana. This was our finished product...

And that evening, Briana had some daddy/daughter time with Doug. He took her to soccer practice and then out to dinner.

I made her go to bed a bit early that night because we had a full day planned for Wednesday.

School Photo

I know I should be writing posts about the fun we had on fall break last week - I just haven't had a chance to get to them written yet!

So for now, I am going to post this adorable school photo of my sweet girl. This is the one that will go in the school yearbook. She looks so pretty! And she looks like she really knows how to pose for a photo.

I wonder where she learned that from. Heh.
