Fall Break - Another Awesome Evening At The Fair

We headed over to the North Georgia state fair the Thursday afternoon of fall break - like we do every year. Gramma and Papa joined us again this year for rides, food and fun!

Briana's first stop upon arriving at the fair was getting her face painted...

And her first ride was the swings. She absolutely loves this ride...

We always stop for an early dinner to try to avoid the crowds...

We ran into our favorite robot again...

Briana begged to go in the bubble again this year. This is her absolute favorite thing to do at the fair...

And then of course, some bungee jumping...

Doug went to get a drink and somehow Miss B was able to get some free cotton candy...

More ride time...

Bri was upset we didn't get a chance to hit the bumper cars when we were at the Pioneer Days Festival, so it was a must at this fair...

Cute photo opp...

Then it was time to play some games...

The balloon bust was once again one of the highlights of the fair...

Look closely at the picture below. One of Briana's runaway darts hit this Justin Bieber poster. My parents, Doug and I could not stop laughing. It was a perfect shot. I am still wondering why Briana did not win one of the big stuffed animals for this...

The sun started to set...

Ice cream for Gramma and Bri and funnel cake for Papa and Doug (I didn't eat anything - I will still full from dinner!)...

Bri and I waited to ride the ferris wheel until it got dark...

It was seriously tall...

Love the carnival music that comes from this organ...

One last spin on the swings...

And as we were leaving, Gramma and Briana bought matching balloon horses...

Another perfectly, totally, awesomely fun evening! Gosh we love the fair!

Fall Break - A Day Of Apple Picking

The Wednesday during fall break was a picture perfect day to go apple picking! The sun was shining and the temps were so comfortable. We arrived at the apple orchard around 10:45AM...

The Apple House is a little general store that sells all things apple...

Behind the little store, there are rows and rows of apples awaiting to be picked...

Since it was a weekday, it was pretty quiet. There was a field trip of preschoolers picking apples, another field trip of senior citizens walking around and a few others like us walking around.

There are no bells and whistles available on the weekdays - only on weekends. No pony rides, no petting zoo, no hay rides. But that is ok. We have our annual family farm outing with friends planned for this weekend. Just picking apples was perfect for this day...

Briana definitely needed a daddy lift to get to the higher branches...

A tight squeeze from mommy...

A little hand holding...

Briana kept laughing because when she would go to pick an apple, sometimes other ones would fall on Doug's head. Of course, she thought that was hilarious...

We couldn't get into the petting zoo, but we could still see all the animals from afar...

Picking a few more...

Once we picked all our apples, Briana hit the free cider station...

And slurped down a frozen cider slushy...

My two favorite peeps...

About five minutes away from the apple orchard is the local town...

Briana found a sock monkey to take home...

We stopped in a quaint Christmas shop...

While Doug paid for a few items, Briana and I sat on the rocking chair front porch of the store and just chatted...

It was so beautiful there - I could have stayed all day.

We grabbed a quick lunch and then hit one last apple barn for some more cider and hot boiled peanuts...

We came home with Golden Delicious, Mutsu and Black Arkansas apples...

It was one of those perfect days. One I could relive over and over again and be completely happy.

And it is funny, with all the picking we have done (blueberry and strawberry), we had never gone apple picking before. Another item crossed off the bucket list!
