Trip To Chattanooga 2023 - Asian Lantern Festival (Part 3)

I had read when I was purchasing the lantern festival tickets that the zoo animals would not be around for viewing. I guess we were at the zoo early enough to catch a few of the animals who hadn't settled down for the night yet (our tickets were for 5:30pm)...

We even managed to see red pandas sleeping...

Trip To Chattanooga 2023 - Asian Lantern Festival (Part 2)

We entered the aquatic section of the festival, and it was really cool...

Then we headed toward the next section which was a mix of animals, nature and mythical.

 Angel wings...

Me and my best guy...

I think this is a good place to pause. More the third section of the festival is next...

Trip To Chattanooga 2023 - Asian Lantern Festival (Part 1)

The last time Doug, Bri and I went to a lantern festival was in January of 2020 (it was hosted in Atlanta) - right before the pandemic hit. At that time, we had no idea how much the world would change in just a few months!

We were very happy to be visiting another lantern festival this past December and even happier that Meredith could join us.

The first section of the festival was the Asian experience.

Trip To Chattanooga 2023 - The Hotel

Briana and Meredith have known each other since the first grade, and somehow in all those years, they had never been on a trip together! With their senior year wrapping up in a few months, I decided it was finally time for them to take a short overnight trip with each other (and me and Doug!).

I discovered that the Chattanooga Zoo was hosting a Asian Lantern Festival and I thought that would be perfect!

I purchased the tickets to the event and Doug made some hotel reservations and off we went a few days after Christmas!

Crossing into Tennessee...

We enjoy staying at the Westin in downtown Chattanooga, so that is where we decided to stay again...

The lobby is always so inviting (and they always have a different car displayed in the lobby)...

The elevators and stairway are really cool...

Ceiling of one of the elevators...

The girls had an adjoining room to my and Doug's room, and it was huge!!

We freshened up a bit when we got into our rooms and then it was time to head to the Asian Lantern Festival...

More on that next post...

Happy New Year 2024!

Just wanted to pop on here on January 1st and say "Happy New Year!"

Last night, Doug, Bri and I went out to a very nice dinner and then came home to watch a movie. We chose the "The Barbie Movie." It was pretty weird! I definitely get the messages it sends, but overall - it was still weird. LOL!

We had a quiet night at home (except for our neighbors setting of very loud fireworks for over an hour).

I've spent most of my January 1st putting away my Christmas decorations - and I'm still not done. Hope to get it all done in the next day or two.

I hope you all had a great first day of the year! Let's see what 2024 brings!
