Character Award Breakfast

My sweet girl all smiles before her award breakfast this morning. :)

Remember when I blogged about the invitation?

As you can see, it doesn't mention anything about parents being invited to attend. So, I just thought it was a small breakfast for the kids. I didn't realize that certificates would actually be passed out.

Bri got all dressed up and I told her I would walk her into school today just to make sure she got to where she needed to go this morning for the breakfast...

Bri and I arrived early (we are punctual if you didn't realize already - heh), and there was one little girl sitting at a table. (On a side note - walking into the school, I realized I didn't have my phone with me - which never happens.) I told Bri I would stay until a few more kids showed up. Then a mom walked in the room right behind me and she sat down. I was a little puzzled. I asked her if she was a parent and if she was staying. She said yes. She said she attended the breakfast the year before for her son and she was staying for her daughter this year. Then I asked if other parents stay as well and she said yes. I asked Briana if she wanted me to stay and she of course said yes. We were in the very back of the building. I didn't sign in because I wasn't planning on staying. So, I had to walk all the way back up to the front of the school to sign in (after letting Bri know I would be right back).

When I got back, I saw one of Bri's classmates also in the room. The counselor came in a minute or so after me. And right behind the counselor was Bri's friend G (her soccer buddy) and the girls were very happy to sit together.

The kids were served doughnuts and juice and the school mascot was there (a kid in a cute cub costume). Once the kids were done eating, the counselor called their names and they came to the front. April's character word was "punctuality" and Briana was the student picked from her class for this honor. Bri's friend G was picked from her class for punctuality too (she is in kindergarten). March's word was "perseverance", and that is why B's classmate was at the ceremony too.

When Briana was called, the counselor actually called out her name as "Brittany" and I had to correct her. She laughed a bit and then said "Briana." Sigh. Briana bounced toward the front to get her picture taken with the mascot. The counselor said the pictures will be posted on a bulletin board at the front of the school at the beginning of the next school year.

And remember, I had no camera. I couldn't believe it. I was having withdrawal symptoms - shakes, nausea, etc. ;)

Here is her award and what B's teacher had to say about her...

And here is Miss B with her certificate this afternoon...

I kind of laughed a little about the "cheerful attitude about coming to school." B's teacher is obviously not the person that drags Briana out of bed every morning. *Snort*

B is definitely cheerful once she is fully awake. Ahem. You're welcome. ;)

I'm really proud of my girl. This was the first school award ceremony that I've attended for Briana. Bri is a smart girl, but I'm not sure yet if she will become an honor roll type of kid. We will see how it goes. The one thing I know for sure is that she will at least be on time! LOL!

I'm so glad she is exhibiting good character traits. It really is so important. Makes this mama proud!

Two Parties In One Day!

Briana's party circuit has slowed down significantly this year (which is really ok by me). But, it revved up a bit on Saturday because Bri had two very good friends having birthday parties that same afternoon. My party girl was all for it!

The first party was for her sweet friend Imerie, and she turned 7. It was a mani/pedi party with some delicious frozen yogurt afterward. The girls picked out their colors and they ended up with the prettiest hands and feet...

Yogurt and present time...

We, of course, had to get a toes shot!

Briana and I sadly had to rush out of party one to get to party two. We were a bit late for Kira's party (she turned 3), but we made it just in time to see Miss Kira blow out her candles ~ whew!!!!

Bri jumped on the swing set...

I did bring a bathing suit for Briana, but I knew the water would be really cold (it rained the night before and it was overcast). I wasn't sure if she would want to swim. But she saw other little kids in the pool and begged to get in. She had a blast swimming - but every kid in that pool was shivering. They were all determined to stay in that pool - shaking and blue. :)

One of our surprises for K was that we brought her Bri's old Dora table and chairs. Briana was a huge Dora fanatic at age 3 too, so it was perfect to finally pass on to K who is now the world's biggest Dora fan...

K also got a cool water table for her birthday (not from us)...

Water gun fight with Uncle Khalid...

Briana was asked to join in on this family photo ~ I promise she didn't photo bomb it - LOL!

Two sweet girls...

Big thank you for my present and coming to my birthday party hugs...

Doug, Bri and I actually stayed into the evening visiting with Khalid's family that came into town for the party and we had dinner (Trinidadian food - yum!) with them. It is always a good time hanging out with all of them.

Briana passed out in the car on the way home. It was a big day for my gal!
