2015 has gotten off to a pretty good start!
Briana didn't go back to school until January 6th, so we had a lot of time to fill until that time.
The 1st day of January was a quiet one for us. We slept in a bit, Doug and I did a lot of cleaning up from Christmas and Doug grilled us some delicious kabobs for dinner...
The following day (Friday, the 2nd), we had our good friends and neighbors (the M family) come over for dinner. Bri and Ella always have a good (and silly) time together...
The first Sunday of January, I took Briana to see the movie "Annie." She really loved it. I actually found myself tearing up a bit when it came to certain scenes talking about abandonment and yearning for information. It hits close to home for us. At one point during the movie, Bri climbed into my lap for a few minutes - which is quite unusual for her. I always wonder how she processes that kind of information...
After the movie, we stopped at the playground because Laura and Ella were there. Bri definitely needed some fresh air - it had rained for a few days which caused us to be stuck in the house. And B loves playing with Ella...
The day before Bri went back to school, Bri really needed stuff to do. So, we pulled out her "Paint Maker" that she got from Santa Claus...
Finally, Tues, January 6th came around ~ it was time to go back to school. This is what B thought of the idea...
She really needed to get back to her routine. I did too. She needs to be around her friends and have a little separation from me. It's good for her.
That evening, she started a 6 week indoor soccer camp (on Tuesdays) to keep her soccer skills in check. It's pretty intense and quite a workout...

She was so hungry after her 90 minute workout - she scarfed down an entire Firehouse sub...
This is how she looked going to school on Wednesday of that week. So grown up (sigh)...
On Jan 8, we woke up to temps in the single digits. It was 8 degrees when we headed to school...
She looked super cute that morning...
She needed to keep her head warm for sure...
Finally the weekend came around and Briana used one of her Christmas gift cards to buy some Pokeman cards...
She also played with her new Monster High castle...
She bought some MH dolls with some Christmas money...
Saturday evening, Doug went out with a friend and Bri and I stayed in. She helped me make Potato Soup. She was quite proud of herself...
The reason Doug had gone out was because he was celebrating his birthday a bit early. His birthday is actually on the 13th, but we like to celebrate birthdays for several days around here. :)
While Doug was away, Bri worked on making him some cupcakes...

My next post will be all about celebrating Doug's birthday!!
