Here we are - week 29 since coronavirus hit the state of GA. There have some crazy weeks during this coronavirus pandemic (like when school started back in my county), but holy cow - I think last week totally takes the cake.
From the release of information on Tr@mp's tax returns to the insane debate on Tuesday to the president announcing he has Covid-19 early Friday morning, my head is totally spinning.
How long have I been talking about coronavirus and social distancing and mask use? How long have I been saying this thing spreads like wildfire? Since March. I'm even tired of hearing myself talk about it. But if people actually listened to the experts, I guess I wouldn't have to repeat myself over and over and over again about all of this. This administration hasn't helped one bit - reckless doesn't even begin to scratch the surface on what they have done.
So, I guess you all wondering what I'm going to talk about in this post - LOL! Honestly, I'm not exactly sure yet. So much has happened and I actually feel kind of numb. My head is total brain fog.
I guess let's talk about some positive stuff first...
First, I want to say a quick hello to "Priyabella." I want to thank you for leaving a comment, saying hi for the very first time and for your kind words. I am so flattered that you have read my little ole blog for so many years. Shana Tova to you and your family and let's hope for a brighter tomorrow!
Wednesday morning, Doug and I got up early to drop our absentee ballots in our local ballot drop box. And then we went to get our flu shots...
It was quite the productive morning.
The basement is really coming along now. The painters painted the basement over several days last week...
Though Bri and I are going to thoroughly enjoy this basement when it is finished, this is really Doug's baby. He has had this basement plan in his mind for many years. He has been in charge of picking out the paint, flooring, tile - and he's done an amazing job with all his choices. I think the finished product is going to look amazing when it is all done.
It is a bit difficult having an unfinished basement completed - especially when you are home a lot. There is a lot of noise and a lot of strong chemical smells - it is definitely challenging at times. I just keep reminding myself how awesome it will be when it is all done.
As you know, we celebrated Autumn Moon Festival on Thursday...
Briana completed her 8th week of virtual school last week. She did great once again. She had a rough draft for a research paper due on Friday, so that was pretty intense. I read over her paper before she submitted it and I think she did an amazing job. Let's just hope the teacher feels the same way!
The virtual academy is already telling us we need to make a decision as to whether or not our kids will be continuing with virtual learning next semester. Sign up starts on October 12th and there is only a two week window. Since there are still over a thousand new cases a day here in Georgia and we have to base our decision on what we know "right now," we will most likely be signing Bri up for virtual again. Masks are still only "encouraged" around here - which isn't good enough for us. I pray Bri can start her 10th grade year "normally." I'm honestly not sure if it will be with her currently assigned public school or not. We have a lot of considering to do.
By the way, one of the school board members in my district recently announced he had the virus when a number of parents started complaining on FB again about being tired of hybrid learning...
This is why things are still hybrid.
Now I'm moving on to the other not so fun stuff.
Coronavirus update...
Numbers are still over a thousand new cases a day here in GA...
I honestly cannot wait until there is a vaccine - this will hopefully help life get back to "close to normal." And though I am definitely in the pro-vaccine camp, I'm not going to have a rushed, politically-motivated vaccine injected into myself or my family - especially my kid. My family will get vaccinated when it is proven safe - which means social distancing and mask use will be our family's "normal" for the unforeseen future.
I guess it is time for me to get political now (you know the drill)...
Well...the entire world now knows that Tr@mp has contracted Covid-19. It was only a matter of time. Maskless rallies. Lack of social distancing. Continued handshaking and hugging. But even though Tr@mp holds all these dangerous rallies and refuses to wear a mask, he's still a germophobe. I thought there was a slight possibility he might never contract it. He did. And not only did he contract it, it spread it like wildfire through his inner circle...

This is what happens when you hold a "super spreader" event in the Rose Garden of the White House and act like there is no pandemic going on...
You know what was kind of scary? Tr@mp has created such an environment of "fake news" (mistrust and misinformation) that when he announced he had the virus, there were a number of people who weren't sure they should actually believe he was sick. They thought it could be a political stunt to distract from the horrible debate. I can't say I blame them for thinking that, but I knew that would be one of the biggest hoaxes in American history if it were true. But now that Tr@mp is in the hospital and so many Republican politicians and staff are testing positive, there is no doubt this is real...
I'm not surprised that the White House administration and doctors are saying how "great" Tr@mp is doing. They will spin this positively for sure - unless something goes really sideways and they absolutely can't cover it up. The one thing I have noticed though is they are already throwing every experimental virus treatment at the president and he's only at the beginning of this. So, there is no doubt they are worried - as they should be.
Tr@mp will most likely come out of this just fine, and this is why...
Most people don't have access to this kind of intense care. Most people would be told to go home and wait it out until symptoms get really bad. This is why so many people have died in America now...
I am seeing some people on FB posting that others shouldn't be saying "I told you so" or rejoicing about Tr@mp getting sick. Now I agree with the not "rejoicing" part. No one should be rejoicing or celebrating about this. Believe me, I'm not rejoicing, but I am frustrated. I strongly disagree with those who think that people shouldn't be saying "I told you so." Tr@mp totally brought this on himself. He exposed SO many people to this dangerous virus. He has silenced his task force. He not only didn't wear a mask or social distance, he openly and harshly mocked people who did. That finger wagging is going the wrong way - and the American people have every right to be upset.
Good grief - what can I say about the debate?
I was actually going to touch on the (at the time - upcoming) debate last weekend, but I decided against it. Now I wish I had addressed it. I was going to say how nervous I was feeling about it. I have dealt with narcissism first hand, and I know going up against a narcissist can be an impossible task (boasting, lying, rewriting history). I knew B!den could possibly have a tough time with it. Tuesday night went close to how I thought it would - except it was SO much worse than I ever imagined. Tr@mp refusing to allow B!den to talk as well as Chr!s Wallace was horrible. Tr@mp refusing to denounce white supremacy was so horrible. Tr@mp mocking B!den for wearing a mask (which is totally ironic now) - horrible. B!den took a few swings back at him out of frustration. Just remember this...
I can't imagine having unhinged rapid fire thrown at me for 90 minutes and having a stutter on top of it.

This is going to be a very LONG month.
But it's the month of October now. I love Halloween, so I'm going to try to focus on getting into the Halloween spirit - even during a pandemic. I plan on decorating my house this week...
