July 4th Festivities

Monday afternoon, my parents came over for a BBQ at my house. We grilled hot dogs, sausages, onions and bbq chicken. Everything was delish! Our original plans for the evening were to head over to see a fireworks display near our house. Unfortunately, the weather made us change those plans. Right after grilling, the skies darkened and the rain, thunder and lightning rolled in. We kept monitoring the forecast for our part of town on the computer, but it wasn't looking promising. So in between storms, we pulled out our own fireworks and sparklers and made our own fun! We watched "A Capital Fourth" on TV. And right after my parents left for the evening, someone in our neighborhood shot off some pretty decent sized fireworks (in the pouring rain), so we don't feel like we missed a thing!

We started our morning making ourselves patriotic...

(This is my Creme Brulee whipped pie...)

(And my red, white and blue chips...)

And we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and fireworks (though Bri thought the fireworks were a bit loud)...

These are the professional fireworks we saw... ;D

This is one of the neighborhood fireworks I (sort of) managed to catch on camera...

Hope you all had a very happy 4th!!!
