Ritz-Carlton Reynolds - The Hotel and Grounds

Memorial Day weekend/week, Doug, Bri and I went to the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds at Reynolds Plantation on Lake Oconee for vacation.

Doug and I had been there many years ago (pre-Bri) and had a wonderful time. We thought it would be nice to take Bri back with us. It is just a few hours from our home, so we drove there to start off our summer break.

It is just beautiful driving up to the hotel...

The lobby is so pretty too...

We got to meet Dooley, the official mascot of the Ritz at Reynolds, and he is such a sweetheart...

When we arrived, we immediately started exploring the grounds. Each day we walked them and they were just gorgeous.

The backside of the hotel is where all the action is. Restaurants, infinity pool, ping pong, swings, basketball, cornhole, walking paths, hammocks, fire pit and of course the lake (boating, canoeing, fishing, etc)...

They also offer a spa and indoor pool...

Cool phone in the lobby...

Our bedroom was a suite and very pretty...

Bri slept on the pull out couch...

This was the view from our hotel room...

We had a great time. The food was amazing, the views were beautiful and we really enjoyed the pool and breathtaking grounds...

Of course, there are always hiccups when it comes to going on vacation. Especially when you go somewhere around a holiday. I think when you go to a Ritz though, your expectations are a bit higher. You hope those hiccups will be either non-existent or few and far between (even if it around a busy holiday). We had way more hiccups than we should have for being at a Ritz-Carlton. But, we didn't let it damper our vacation. We still made the most out of it.

Next, I'm going to talk about the food. Because you all know I love talking about food. :)

Summer Break ~ Two Weeks In

Wow ~ I haven't blogged since May 27. I did stop in on Bri's referral day anniversary on June 6th, but I haven't written at all about our summer break so far. We've been so busy doing stuff, blogging has kind of been put on the back burner. But I'm stopping in to let you know I haven't gone anywhere!

The afternoon of Bri's last day of school, Doug and I took B out for some celebratory frozen yogurt. She is officially a 5th grader now - wow!!!!

Our summer break has been so fun and busy and it is going by way too fast.

So far it has included...

Swim dates ~ with friend Caitlin...

And with friend Sarah...

A trip to the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds on Lake Oconee...

  A Build-A-Bear 4th birthday party for B's cousin N2...

Facetiming and Minecrafting with friends...

Play dates in person with friends...

 British soccer camp...

And several swim sessions with teammates after camp...

And of course we reminisced about Bri's referral day...

I honestly cannot believe we are two weeks in to summer break already. Here in GA, the kids go back to school on August 1st (crazy I know, but the kids get a lot of breaks throughout the year; it's kind of like "year round" school). So, we try to make the most of every day of summer break while we have it.

Next week is cooking camp for Miss B. After that, we have a couple of weeks open to do whatever we feel like doing. B has one camp in July and that is it. Her schedule is definitely more open this summer than it was last summer. That's how she wanted it and I am ok with it.

I'll be popping in every so often to blog about things ~ our Ritz vacation, soccer camp, etc. I'm going to be spending lots of time with my girl, so I'll be back when I can!

Ninth Referral Day Anniversary

How is it even possible that Doug and I received "the call" about our beautiful daughter and saw her face for the first time NINE years ago today?

Time certainly flies on this side of the wait.

Here is my annual montage of Briana holding her referral picture every year on our referral day anniversary...

1st referral day anniversary...

2nd referral day anniversary...

 3rd referral day anniversary...

4th referral day anniversary...

5th referral day anniversary...

 6th referral day anniversary...

7th referral day anniversary...

 8th referral day anniversary...

9th referral day anniversary...

I can see her slowly lose her "baby" look in her earlier pictures and now I also see her losing her "little girl" look in her more recent photos. She is becoming a remarkable young lady right before my very eyes. She makes me so proud each and every day.
