A Virus

This is still one of my very favorite pictures that I have ever taken of Briana. I took it in April of 2010. She just looks so incredibly sweet in it.

My poor girl has been under the weather. Her friend had a virus last week and Bri unfortunately caught it this week. Monday evening, she started to feel warm and she lost her appetite (though she still managed to enjoy sparklers on Independence Day). Tuesday, she was feverish all day and Tuesday night, she woke up around 11:30PM crying and totally flushed. With cool washcloths and some kids Iburprofen, I managed to get her back to sleep. By Wednesday, she was feeling a lot better. She took it easy the whole day. She slept like a champ on Wednesday night. Yesterday, we went about our usual activities (swim lesson and gymnastics) but by evening, Bri was starting to wear down. She still isn't a 100 percent, but she hung in there like a champ. And now it is Friday. We have a quiet Friday, Saturday and Sunday planned so Miss B can get back on her feet again.

I am very lucky. Briana rarely gets sick. And when she does get sick, it never lasts for very long. She has a crazy good immune system. When Bri does get sick, it is so hard for me to wrap my head around it. I am so used to my high-spirited, energetic girl. I don't like seeing my happy girl not feeling well. So, I have to kick into my "super mama mode" and make sure my sick girl is doted on and taken care of. Now that she is starting to feel a bit better, I am now feeling a bit tired. It is hard being a "super mama" for an entire week. ;D

I call it "orphanage immunity." Becky has never once in 19 years missed a day of school b/c of illness. She has never once vomited! Never had the flu. She doesn't get headaches. Of course, this means that she isn't really able to empathize when anyone else gets sick. I figure when you're 1-6 months old and you're drooling all over toys that other babies are putting in their mouths all day long, you build up an immunity to almost everything!

Glad Briana is on the mend.

Poor sweetie. Glad to hear she is doing better.

Yeah, the DJ really built up our kiddos' immune system. That's good and bad, I suppose.

Sorry that Bri's been sick, guess she and C must have shared something. Hope that she's 100% very soon.
