All About Halloween 2023

I was determined to blog about Halloween before Thanksgiving happens this year and here is my post!

Halloween is my favorite holiday. I have always loved Halloween. I like that eerie feeling and being spooked (just not too much). I like that there isn't any pressure of giving presents. I enjoy carving pumpkins. I love the autumn feel. I love seeing all the costumes. And the candy isn't too bad either.

Here is a collage of me in some of my costumes I wore as a kid on Halloween...

I started getting into the Halloween spirit a bit early this year. In August, I stopped in a seasonal store and it had an amazing Halloween section...

And then in early September, Doug, Bri and I went to Spirit Halloween. We like to go when they first open the store for the season. The later you get into the season - they start selling out of things. We were there at the perfect time...

We saw someone on the road with some Halloween spirit...

Finally, October rolled around and it was time for us to start decorating our home. Here is the outside (Doug and Briana worked on this)...

And I am responsible for decorating the inside of the house...

Some of the new items I added to my Halloween decor collection...

My faves ~ my fortune teller, my clown and my zombie girl...

At school, Briana participated once again in the decorating of the Haunted Hallways at her high school. Being a senior this year, she was allowed to work in the scary hallway. One of her contributions to the hallway was to "honor" her good friend Mary with her very own tombstone - heh...

Bieber is not Mary's last name by the way - LOL!

We got our pumpkins in Ellijay this year...

Of course, we had to carve our pumpkins...

Bri's had the red light, Doug's was green and mine glowed pink.

With Bri heading to college next fall, I am not sure what Halloween will look like or if she will be able to spend any time with us during the season. This Halloween carving was bittersweet.

A few months before Halloween, Briana informed me she would not be wearing a costume this year. I was really ok with it. She gave me more years than I ever imagined. She gave me 16 amazing years of costumes ((Ladybug, ND Cheerleader, Cinderella, Ariel, Pocahontas, Queen Amidala, Butterfly, Draculaura, Ninja, Rey, Spy, Vanellope Von Schweets, Steampunk, Flapper Girl, Ringmaster and Regina George)...

Instead, she invited two of her best girlfriends over to watch a scary movie. I made them a large charcuterie board to munch on. They had a great time...

Our neighborhood is always filled with kids, and we must have had 70 to 80 kids come to our door that evening. Doug and I were so tired answering the door!! (It's always fun though!)...

Halloween is always so fun and I was sad to see it go this year. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas though. Hopefully we stay healthy throughout it!
