Local History Museum

Briana was so sad to miss her field trip the week she was sick (and I was supposed to chaperone - so I was sad too). So, Doug and I took her so we could see what she missed out on. The museum was empty (due to the holiday week) and Bri was able to touch and spend time with all the stuff on her own. I know she would have had a lot of fun with her friends, but I also know she wouldn't have had much time to really soak in and touch all the things they had to offer on her field trip. It was really fun just the three of us.

We learn a lot about Georgia history...

The contraption in the middle is a hair curler. Scary, I know!!

After walking around for a couple of hours in the museum, we were hungry. There was a quaint restaurant nearby and it was delish...

And there was an adorable shop next door where we did a little Christmas shopping...

The temps were so cold that week and we were a bit tired, so we headed home. It was such a fun morning/early afternoon. So glad we got to do this before I got sick.

The Last Bit Of Thanksgiving

My mom sent me a bunch of pictures that she took on Thanksgiving. Here are a few of my faves.

She caught me and Briana waiting for Santa to arrive in the parade...

My mom also brought some coloring sheets for the kids to color on. Bri was waiting for N1 and N2 to arrive...

My mom bought angel ornaments for all of us to put on our Christmas trees in memory of my grandmother...

Doug loves my mom's pumpkin pie...

And here is Briana, well, being Briana...

Yep - she's crazy. :)

Thanksgiving Week/Break

The week of Thanksgiving was the short reprieve we had from the sickness in our house. Briana was so sick the week before Thanksgiving and I got so sick after it. Now Bri and Doug both have colds and I'm still trying to get rid of this pneumonia. Praying if this all gets done now, we will be strong and healthy for the rest of the holiday season. Knock on wood/fingers and toes all crossed.

Bri managed to get to school the Friday before the Thanksgiving break, but she was still tired and run down. She was supposed to join me, my friend Carole and her son Guy for our visit to the craft fair that is held every year at my old high school. B just wasn't up to it, so I joined Carole and Guy on my own. It was a great fair. So much fun stuff to look at - missed my gal though. (I borrowed these photos of the craft fair off the internet)...

Sunday, Bri was feeling much better and we had dinner with friends Khalid, Ansu and Kira. The girls love building stuff together...

Since Briana missed her field trip to being sick, Doug and I took her to one of the museums she missed seeing on that Monday. It was such an interesting place - and we had the place to ourselves (another blog post on that to come)...

On Tuesday, Bri and I went somewhere to do a little Christmas crafting. That will be revealed after Christmas :) ...

Wednesday, it was time to visit the guy with the red suit and white beard (another blog post is coming on this too)...

Thursday was Thanksgiving...

The weekend after Thanksgiving, we bought our real Christmas tree and decorated several other trees around the house...

The Saturday after Thanksgiving, went went to see our friend's little girl play Souris in her dance company's performance of the Nutcracker (she was so good!)...

And Sunday we went to see "Frozen" - it was SO good...

So as you can see, we had an awesome, busy Thanksgiving week. Then Monday, I started to decorate our real tree but started to feel so run down. I didn't get to finish it completely - or the rest of the house for that matter. I was down/in the bed from that point on for almost two weeks. Thank goodness for my hubby, daughter and Red the Elf for helping me get the house a bit more festive. More on that to come...

Our Thanksgiving and Hanukkah (Our Thanksgivingukkah)

I know, I know - it is the middle of December and I'm finally blogging about Thanksgiving. I've been SO sick - I really thought I wasn't going to get better. But today, I'm not perfect - but much better. I love antibiotics.

Well, Thanksgiving ended up being quite different again this year. Last year, my dad had a health scare and my family really didn't have a Thanksgiving (all together at least). So, we were all excited to get back to my mom's house for the holiday. Well at 10:30 the night before, my mom e-mailed me and told me her downstairs heater broke. And it was going to be in the low 20's that night and holding in the low 40's all Thanksgiving day. A little too chilly for turkey. So, we shifted everything and had Thanksgiving at my house. Despite the hectic change of plans, it ended up being a wonderful day.

My turkey was a pretty one (and Red the Elf made his 1st appearance that day to help with the preparations)...

Bri sharing a moment with Doug...

My parents arrived first, and Doug, Bri and my dad shared bites of the turkey neck...

We watched the parade on TV...

Doug ready to cut the turkey...

My sister and her family arrived and we settled at the table that afternoon...

My nephew N2 trying on the turkey hat - he wasn't digging it...

Gramma and Aunt Amy came bearing early Christmas goodies...

Briana breaking the wishbone with Cousin N1 - Bri won this one. N1 was such a good sport about losing and congratulated Bri. Love that kid...

As you all know, my dad is Jewish and Thanksgiving and Hanukkah intersected this year. My parents brought over their menorah and the kids lit two candles that evening...

Hanukkah goodies for my dad...

Everyone was pretty tired that evening and eventually headed home. It ended up being one of the best Thanksgivings (and Hanukkah nights) ever.

(And luckily no one was sick that day! I waited until a few days after - heh.)

Why I Haven't Been Blogging

I have pneumonia.

Yep - I'm really, really really sick.

Thanksgiving week was super busy, and I figured I would blog all about it last week. But, I started feeling sick late Monday evening. Tuesday morning, I awoke with what I thought was just a flu/virus. Shakes, chills, fever.

By Friday morning, I went to the urgent care center near my house and was diagnosed with pneumonia. I had pneumonia not long after I brought Bri home from China, and this feels the same. Except this time I have lost my voice too.

Today, I am on antibiotics, an inhaler and decongestants. I am so very weak.

I have so much to do for Christmas, but I can't get to it. I got a lot done Thanksgiving weekend thank goodness, but not enough for my liking. Doug has picked up the slack for me this week in the Christmas decorating and taking care of me and Bri department.

I need to get better - and soon. But in order to do that, I must force myself to rest. Right now, I feel like I've been hit by a truck.

I haven't blogged and haven't looked at blogs. Once I feel better, I promise I'll be back.

Hope you are all having a good Christmas season so far.
