Yayoi Kusama Infinity Mirrors

All I can say is "WOW." This was an amazing experience. We were so happy that my BIL and SIL (Wes and Ann) were able to experience it with us when they came to visit.

Yayoi Kusama Infinity Mirrors at the High Museum of Art...

We were the first appointment at noon on a Sunday afternoon to see the exhibit. I'm not really sure how many people were in our noon appointment group. Maybe 100? Our group had a half an hour to view each room before the next group came in (appointments are every half hour). We didn't have to leave, but as each new group came in - it would get more and more crowded. There were 7 individual rooms to see (and there was artwork to view outside the rooms as well). Visitors were allowed to enter the rooms in small numbers (2, 3 or 6) depending on the room, and we could only stay in each room for about 30 seconds. That keeps the crowd moving. We were allowed to get back in line as many times as we wanted. At first, it was a breeze to get back in a line and see something again. But as the crowd got bigger, the wait times got longer - making it hard to see something again. We were lucky enough to see each exhibit twice because we were there so early.

The first room (The Souls Of Millions Of Light Years Away)...

We could enter in groups of three for this room. It looks so small from the outside.

But when you go inside, it looks like this...

It was truly spectacular.

The second room (Phalli's Field - and yes this one is a bit suggestive - LOL). We could enter in groups of two or three...

Third room (Aftermath Of Obliteration Of Eternity)...

I felt like I was in the movie "Tangled" in this room...

The fourth room (Love Forever). This isn't a room you can actually enter - you can only peak inside (2 at a time)...

Visitors cannot bring a phone in this room at all (I grabbed this shot below from the internet)...

We were told that years ago someone dropped their phone on a pumpkin and broke it. So, no phones allowed and an employee from the museum has to enter the room with each three person group.

Six people could enter this pink and black polka dotted room at the same time, so we were finally able to enter a room with Ann and Wes...

Finally, we arrived at the seventh room (The Obliteration Room) - this was the exit out of the exhibit. Once you entered this room, you couldn't go back to the other rooms. Also, there was no limit on how many people could be in this room at one time...

We were given a small sheet of stickers to add to the room. We were asked not to take any stickers outside of the room. This room was completely white when the exhibit started, so the stickers represent every person that visited the room. We were making art!

It was really cool...

 It was such a cool experience. I think the first room and the third room were my favorite rooms. I wish I could have spent more time in each room, but I get why you cannot. Things would get so backed up!

And we spent way too much time and money at the gift shop. LOL!

Advanced tickets are all sold out (they sold out very quickly), but you can try to stand in line first thing in the morning to get walk-up tickets (there are only 100 available per day). It's totally worth seeing if you can get a ticket!
