Well July 4th, 2020 finally arrived in the middle of the coronavirus epidemic and I was still struggling with my frustrating blocked ear issue. "Celebrating" July 4th was a bit of double-edged sword for me this year, but I wasn't going to let my girl down and not do anything to commemorate the holiday at all.
This was my status post on FB that day...
I managed to put out a few fun things for B to enjoy looking at leading up to the holiday...
Some July 4th art from B...
We have LED lights on our house that can change color, so Doug changed them for the holiday...
Just in time for the July 4th holiday (July 3rd), Disney+ started
streaming the musical "Hamilton." Doug, Bri and I were definitely on the
"Hamilton train" the day of release. We love musicals (as you all
know), so we were very curious about all the hype. We really enjoyed it - and the soundtrack is awesome.
If I have tears at the end of a musical, then I know it touched me.
"Wicked" will probably always be Bri's favorite show and "Cats" will
always be mine, but it is definitely on our "thumbs up" list...
Then Independence Day arrived on Saturday. Or as King George III would say...
Heh.
We ate lobsta rolls for lunch (we actually had them on the 2nd for dinner and the 4th for lunch - a huge thanks to my hubby)...
And chicken wings and fries for dinner...
We watched several episodes of "Reunited Apart" - Ferris Bueller, The Goonies and Back To The Future (brought back so many memories)...
That evening, we watched "A Capital 4th" on TV. It was so well done. It had a somber and respectful tone to it for the times - very appropriate...
We went outside to light some sparklers and some leftover firecrackers we had.
Our neighbors had a nice display of fireworks going off...
Our little firecrackers...
Sparklers...
My best gal...
Fireworks were going off all over the neighborhood. More than I've ever heard. No doubt because so many people had stayed home. I'm grateful that nothing really bothers Mei, but I know it's not the same for a lot of other pets.
I have to say - Briana is an amazing kid. She honestly takes so much in stride. She knows that a lot of life is going on per usual without her taking part right now, but she doesn't get mad or resentful about it. And it's not easy being an "only" child right now. I honestly don't know what I would do if I didn't have such an amazing, understanding kid. She makes my "job" of being a mom pretty easy.
I am truly blessed.
